Central Brooks Range Trophy Dall Sheep Hunts

Species: Dall Rams (Ovis Dalli) with highly experienced guides -very limited openings - average Ram 11.5 years of age
Dates: August 10 -19; August 20 -29
Area: Bettles
Base Camp: Consists of wall tents and bomb shelter style tent camping.  Home cooked meals over the Yukon stove or around the camp fire in the old traditional way.  Hot shower, wood heat, tables, chairs and enough creature comforts to enjoy without losing the feel of being in the mountains.  Good grayling fishing and gold panning is available near camp.

Spike Camps: We utilize lightweight expedition grade backpack tents.  You will, in most cases, share this tent with your guide.  Spike camps consist of MSR stoves, freeze dried food, sleeping bags and pads along with a space blanket, your rifle and basic personal gear.  You will need a frame pack; or make prior arrangements with us to hire a packer.  Cost of a packer is $250 per day.

Trophy Care: Sheep capes are professionally skinned, fleshed, salted and frozen in Bettles.  They are shipped with your horns to Tom Jesiolowski, of Northland Arts, in Anchorage at your expense.  Tom can have them sealed by ADF&G and either mount your ram or send it on to your taxidermist of choice.  Contact Tom at 907 243 8049.
Note: This sheep hunt is extremely strenuous, in order to be successful, you are advised to train and arrive in top physical condition.
Guided Fly out fishing is available for lake trout, sheefish, dolly varden, & pike.

Firearms:

*you will need to shoot and check the zero of your rifle before departing Bettles
Your rifle should be a light weight bolt action, scoped with good quality optics and dialed in 2 inches high at 100yards. You should be adept at hitting targets out to 350 yards. If you handload, be sure all your ammo will chamber and eject properly. Practice as much as possible in all shooting positions. Silhouettes are especially good practice. Be sure scope mounts and all screws are checked for tightness. A good sling is worth its weight in gold.

Sleeping Gear:

Sleeping bags provided upon request. Sleeping pads are furnished.
